by Brian on May 24, 2010

Recently, Google rolled out Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Nexus One as an OTA (Over-the-Air) download and later as a standalone file allowing you to spruce up your Nexus One with lots of goodies.  Following it, XDA forum member zenulator managed to port the Nexus One FRF50 android 2.2 (froyo) update to the CDMA version of HTC Hero successfully!

As of now some of the features like Data Calls (can’t speak to the other person), New Launcher2, 2.2 Google Apps and Keypad/Trackball LEDs are all working except Audio/Mic, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Maps (which gets closed automatically) and Flash Player 10.1 from the Market which crashes the browser. In addition to live wallpapers work, internet works till you apply the flash update, sd cards work you must format them first though awesome new features such as moving app to sd card.

Currently, android 2.2 Froyo port is not fully working on CDMA HTC Hero. Developers are working hard to port android 2.2 on HTC Hero. There are tons of other features that will be accompanied in android 2.2 update apart from flash 10.1, native internet tethering, and application manager.
