Upcoming Blackberry Shield feature specifications have been leaked in the wild. Blackberry Shield is a new service from RIM which would be user administered personal security utility that will help you to backup your data of your blackberry device from your computer, locate your lost blackberry phone and more.

BlackBerry Shield Feature Specifications
- Remote Device Wipe – Remove complete data from the device and memory card by just logging into BB Shield. Very handy in case of loss of the terminal,.
- “Lost & Found” Screen – In case your BlackBerry is lost you can easily customize the text on the home screen display.
- Passwod Protection – BB shield provides you enough flexibility to remotely set the password on the BlackBerry.
- Loud bell alarm – In case you misplaced your BlackBerry at home or lost your phone, you can activate this option. Once you’ve activated this option, your BB will ‘behave’ loud sounding an alarm, which will help you to locate your lost blackberry device.
- Tracking capability – Based on the GSM transmitters and / or GPS position that is constantly monitored in the BlackBerry unit, and there may be the possibility of seeing it on the map (like Google Maps) from the BB Shield dashboard.
- Backup – Easily allow you to create wireless backup and restore, which can be set automatically with pre-defined time interval.
Almost all of the listed specifications of Blackberry shield are common if we compare it with other similar services. “Loud Bell Alarm” is one such unique function that would come out to be very handy.
There are strong speculations that BlackBerry Shield might be released next month, in April 2010. But, pricing details are still not available. Personally to protect the high end device, I will grab BlackBerry Shield as soon as it gets released. What do you think?
