How to Download Large Files OTA via BlackBerry Browser

BlackBerry allows downloading small files via blackberry browser but if you try to download a file 3MB, it throws connection time out. Actually, blackberry device limit download file size OTA. The download limit in the BlackBerry Browser is 2.3MB which is very annoying for users. But 0mie has successfully found the solution to download large files (size from 30MB to 600MB) via BlackBerry Browser. You need not to install Opera Mini to download large size files.

 

How BlackBerry sets Download Limit.

RIM sets your download limit by setting it’s WAP and “Internet” Browser to a specific port and thus not letting you download anything above that port limit.

How to download Large Files via BlackBerry Browser

To download files larger than 2.3mbs through the native BlackBerry browser, the port in which the browser accesses must be changed. Just follow the steps listed below-

 

Step-01- Navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books.

Step-02-Hold ALT and type SBEB, (for devices with QWERTY keyboard). Storm users – Hold ALT 4?2?. You should get message that says “Legacy SB Restore Enabled”

Step-03- Open Desktop Manager and navigate to Backup/Restore > Advanced > Open the .ipd file linked HERE.

Step-04- On the left hand box go to file open, select the .ipd file, open it and send it to your phone. Now disconnect your blackberry device from your computer.

Step-05- Open the Blackberry Browser on your phone and navigate to Options > General Properties. You should now have a new option called “NET Browser”. You can now begin downloading files of any size.

Step-06- Your first download you will get an agreement notice from RIM saying they aren’t responsible for any third party things you download, just hit “I Agree”

 

You might lose your email addresses after completing the steps listed above. To fix it, you need to re-register your service books again. To do so follow simple steps below –

  1. Navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables.
  2. Click the BB button
  3. Select option “Register Now”.

    on the Step-03- .ipd file linked HERE??? I can’t find it..can any1 tell me wth is goin on..

    It seems to work if you don’t go to options/advanced/host routing tables and re-register. When I re-register this way I get limited again. I wish I knew the service book that had the limitation. That and a wish for a ipd editor to fix it. This works, just not when I re-register. Odd. Oh well, good luck
