Apple Releases MobileMe iDisk for iPhone and iPod Touch

by Chris Martin on August 4, 2009

Apple has released an application ‘iDisk’ for their MobileMe cloud service and iPhone users. iDisk application can be used on any iPhone and iPod touch model with OS 3.0 Software. With iDisk iPhone and iPod touch users can view and share files, including iWork and Microsoft Office documents, PDFs, and QuickTime movies  on the iDisk right from their iPhone or iPod touch.

MobileMe iDisk

You can easily access MobileMe iDisk from any web browser, Mac or PC, at me.com. Even sending big files is easy with iDisk. Just upload what you want to share, choose your recipients, and iDisk sends them an email with a link to download the file. You can also assign a password to keep your files secure and even set the number of days the download link is available.

To install the free iDisk app directly on your iPhone or iPod touch, make sure you are running iPhone OS 3.0 and then:

1.     Navigate to the App Store and search for “MobileMe iDisk”

2.     Select the app, tap Free, and then Install

You can also download the app using iTunes on your computer and it will be installed the next time you sync your device.

MobileMe iDisk requires a subscription to Apple’s cloud-based service. If you want to check out Apple’s offerings without paying a single penny then you can do so, for 60 days, by applying for a MobileMe free trial over at apple.com/mobileme.

Note - Because of the iPhone’s limited memory files larger than 20MB may not be viewable.
