Redsn0w 0.9 to Jailbreak & Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware (Coming Soon)

Redsn0w 0.9, a popular iPhone jailbreaking and unlocking tool will be released soon that will work with the latest iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. MuscleNerd, iPhone hacker of iPhone Dev Team has managed to recover the long lost source code to redsn0w and will be ported to iPhone OS 3.1.2 firmware to jailbreak and unlock iPhone.

Earlier, Blackra1n (Blacksn0w) jailbreaking and unlocking tool, developed by George Hotz was being used as an alternative.

Redsn0w is multi-platform, jailbreaking and unlocking tool for the iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod touch (first and second generation) for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows but was not updated for the latest firmware iPhone OS 3.1.2.

iPhone users who were unlucky to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 firmware with blackra1n RC3 must try redsn0w 0.9 to jailbreak iPhone 3G/3GS with 3.1.2 firmware installed. As shown in screenshot below, redsn0w 0.9 allows iPhone users to personalize iPhone firmware with customized boot and recovery logos. Custom Logos should be PNG files in RGB or Grayscale format with an alpha channel and no longer than 320×480 with a limited file size of upto 100KB.

Musclenerd, has almost finished the development of redsn0w 0.9 which is compatible with iPhone firmware 3.1.2 and will be out for download anytime. iPhone Dev Team, will release the Windows version of redsn0w 0.9 first followed by Mac version of redsn0w 0.9 and Linux version of redsn0w.

Exact released date or ETA for Redsn0w 0.9 has not been announced yet but, the screenshot suggests that the development of redsn0w 0.9 for windows has been completed. Stay tuned to get the latest updates for download and installation instructions of redsn0w 0.9

Note: Redsn0w 0.9 studded with the new bootroom version will not fix tethered jailbreak for new iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G (3rd Gen).
