Apple Releases iOS 4.1 beta 2 for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch

iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 Beta2 firmware  along with SDK for iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, 3G and iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G has been released and is available for download. If you have a membership of the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program, you can download iOS 4.1 beta 2 (build 885091b) firmware for iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch 2G and 3G now!

iOS 4.1 Beta 2 Change Log

  • iOS 4.1 Beta 2 contains a new baseband 05.14.01_BL01 for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. If you rely on an unlock, DO NOT update to Beta 2.
  • Gizmodo is reporting that iOS 4 beta 2 build has fixed the proximity sensor issue which was annoying some iPhone 4 users since launch.
  • The Next Web is reporting that iOS 4.1 may have fixed the slowness issue of iOS 4 /4.0.1 on iPhone 3G. If not, you may follow some of the ways to speedup iOS 4on iPhone 3G.
  • Fixed bug of displaying the MMS on iPhone 3G. In the previous version, the image contained in multimedia messages, was not displaying correctly.

Note: If you have unlocked your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G then you  must stay away from iOS 4.1 BETA 2 update! However, you can jailbreak your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G running on iOS 4.1 Beta 2 firmware. Steps are posted here.
