Signal App: Get Real Signal Strength of iPhone 4, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS [Video]

Infamous iPhone hacker Planetbeing (android on iPhone fame) has developed an application Signal for your jailbroken iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS that displays the real signal strength, data about your cell reception and plots a map of your nearby cell towers.

Signal Cydia app compares coverage between different carriers, test antenna vulnerabilities on your iPhone, or determine your nearest cell tower. Information such as scrambling codes of neighboring cells and downlink and uplink frequencies can be very useful for Radio engineers while testing the iPhone device in the field. Check out the signal strength among of Rogers Vs AT&T in images:

Why do you need it? Well, sometimes iPhone users get frustrated when they are unable to connect because the signal strength of hotspot or community WiFi networks is too weak and not strong enough to connect. Signal iPhone app will allow you to measure or check real signal strength that will eventually help you in taking a decision to switch to a different carrier or not. Handy! Isn’t?
