Who can use Spirit Userland non-Tethered Jailbreak?

iPhone 3GS users with a subscription to a contract carrier like AT&T will be able to update to 3.1.3 and jailbreak non-tethered.
iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G users can update to 3.1.3 and jailbreak with redsn0w.
All iPod Touch or iPad users can update to 3.1.3 and use Spirit to jailbreak.
If you have an iPhone unlocked and on 3.1.2 tethered. Spirit will probably not work for you and if you update to 3.1.3, your baseband will be updated and you will not be able to unlock and activate your iPhone again.
If are on 3.1.2 and happy. Just install “3.1.3 firmware app”, click “3.1.3″ then “reboot” and you are as good as anyone that restored to 3.1.3 and jailbreak. Everything in appstore that requires 3.1.3 will work now.

What’s Spirit?

Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

Requirements

Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).

Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia’s appearance is not final.)

my iphone 3gs was unlocked on 0S 3.1.3 and i tried installing something from Cydia and phone froze on me so i turned it off and now the only thing i get is the apple logo. I tried putting into recovery mode and restoring it to 3.1.3 again but it says this iphone is not build for this restore. What should i do now ?? please email me the answer my email is luveableboi17@aol.com

im stuck on the restore in progress screen it's been like this for an hour and iv tried restoring the phone b4 i ran spirit and the exact same thing happens…what do i do

  Did u do it with a mac or a windows pc? It did not work out for me when i used mac but it did in windows.

if my iphone is just 3.1.2 tethered but not unlocked, can I just upgrade to 3.1.3 to run spirit instead of restoring to 3.1.2?

this works great, thank you, finally iv jailbroken my ipod touch 3g 3.1.3. BTW to anyone who gets an error screen on vista or 7, try putting it in compatibility mode and run in windows 98. That's what got it working for me.

HOLY CRAP! I just did it and it tool literally no more than 5 seconds. My iphone 3.1.3 turned back on and had cydia and on top of everything not one piece of info. erased from my iphone. Everything was there plus cydia! Its genious

I'm using a Mac with Spirit. When i run it I'm stuck on "Restore in Progress" screen. Any solutions

    Ramaze, I originally asked the "restore in progress" question, an the only solution I came to was using my Windows cpu and not my Mac. Worked like a charm on Windows. Hope this helps a lil.

I dont see cydia and nothing looks different on my iphone…[3gs, 3.1.3, 5.12.3] non-jailbroken (obviously).Can someone tell me a way to test if I'm jailbroken? Only thing I did was click the "Spirit" button.

I just dl'd it and ran it… doesnt seem like anything happened. there was a pic with streaming lights and a progress bar… but afterwards it was my original phone. did anything happened? am i jailbroken now?
