Nexus One house only white color to bring a notification, despite the RGB LED available. But lilHermit of xda-devs has constructed a program “TrackballColorNotify” that allows you to change the color of Trackball or jogball as soon as you receive any SMS or MMS.
Currently, TrackballColorNotify app works only for SMS alerts and only with a rooted Nexus One. If your Nexus One is not rooted yet then you can follow instructions to root Nexus one posted here.
Step #1 Before using this app make sure to turn off the notification in the normal SMS app, (Navigate to Menu -> SMS / MMS -> Options (button) -> Preferences -> Notifications)
Step #2 Download and install TrackballColorNotify-1.0beta3.apk on your Nexus One mobile phone.
Step #3 Change the color and the frequency of the light (every 2 to 9 seconds) via settings option of the app.Currently, there are Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and Lila. Since the beta 2 you can use custom colors (RGB color system).
