WebSharing: Android app to Access Files/Videos/Photos/Music from a Web Browser on WiFi

WebSharing is a free Android app to transfer files, music and photo to and from your phone/device using a web browser wirelessly. It helps you to play and manage music, view photographs, and manage files on your device using your WI-FI network.

Features of WebSharing Android App

  • File Browser: Used to upload and download files to and from your Android device. You can create folders, and rename and delete items. If your browsers supports flash then you can easily upload multiple files to your android phone.
  • Music: Easily allows you to stream music from your android phone to your computer using built-in music player that requires Flash. You can browse the music files by album, artist, or playlist. Multiple tracks or music files can be uploaded and downloaded using WiFi network.
  • Photos: With its photo browser, you can easily display and download photos from your android device on your computer.
  • Videos: You can use the video player to watch movies recorded from your phone.
  • Status: Its status monitor displays current state of your phone, including its battery charge state, disk usage, processor utilization and wireless signal strength.
  • User Control: You can configure user accounts, “owner” or “guest”, which allow control over what content is accessible through WebSharing application. The owner or administrator account can see all content on the device, while the guest account can only view certain items that you specify. You can also add password which can be enabled or disabled from the main screen of the application.

The developer of app will be adding support for creating and editing playlists, and displaying photo slideshows in next release. USB and WebDAV support are under development as well.

Advantages of WebSharing Android App

  • As the application runs as a service on your android phone, you can perform other tasks on the phone while it is in use. An indicator appears in the notification bar when WebSharing is active.
  • The information sent via the network is safe and secure as WebSharing app does not send any information over the Internet to NextApp or third party servers. All communication is made directly from your computer to your phone and vice-versa.
  • No monthly fee or online registration associated with the WebSharing.

The full version of WebSharing apps is available for $2.99 in the Android market. A “Lite” version or free version of WebSharing comes only with the file transfer feature.
