Frash Port by Comex brings Flash Content on iPad [Video]

by Jeffry on July 4, 2010

Do you want to access Flash on your iPhone or iPad? Want to access flash enabled sites to view animation and play games? We all know that accessing flash on iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad through Safari or via the new Opera Mini browser is not possible and Apple will not be providing Flash on Apple iDevices. But, now you can access flash content easily. Comex, a developer for Spirit tool has now ported the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPad and has posted a video demo on jailbroken iPad. Check out the video after the break.

We already reported sometime back that the hacker is working on a port for accessing flash content on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch after he released a video showing Adobe Flash content at high speed. Comex has now come out with Frash port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer. Frash lets you run Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser.

Currently, Flash websites can be accessed only on Apple iPad and will not be available for iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, iPod Touch first, second and third generation hardware for obvious reasons. Support for iOS 4 and iPhone 3GS will be coming in due course of time.

Frash is still in its preliminary stage and some display errors are still present during playback but nevertheless is already possible to open and run Flash content on Apple devices! Developers are welcome to join the effort at github.

Alternatively, you can use Cloud Browse app to access Flash Content on iPhone and iPod Touch. The Cloud Browse browser can play both flash video and java applications on iPhone, both of which are not supported on the iPhone Safari browser. Another plugin Smokescreen is in works that operates directly in the browser of the device and reads the SWF binary that gets converted and presented again in animated SVG. Gordon JavaScript might also help you to run modified Flash content on iPhone.

Stay tuned for more updates on flash content on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
