Voice Control” feature on iPad is actually disabled by default. In order to enable the said functionality you need to jailbreak your iPad before following the guide. Follow our step by step guide on how to jailbreak your iPad using Spirit tool.
How to activate the Voice Control on Apple iPad
Step 1: As a first step you must jailbreak your iPad.
Step 2: Download OpenSSH via Cydia on your iPad. Install it and reboot your iPad.
Step 3: You will now download software to access your iPad via SSH. Windows users can use eg WinSCP while the Mac can use Cyberduck. Enter the following details to login to your iPad:
Cyberduck
- Server: The IP address of your iPad. Settings –> WiFi –> <Your Network Name>
- Username: root
- Password: alpine
- Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
WinSCP
- Hostname: The IP address of your iPad. Setting –> WiFi –> <Your Network Name>
- User name: root
- Password: alpine
- Protocol: SCP
Step 4: Connect your iPad with your computer via SSH. Make sure that iTunes is not running.
Step 5: Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ directory of your iPad.
Step 6: Open the K48AP.plist file with a text editor and add the following strings:
<key>voice-control</key> <true/>
Step 6: Save K48AP.plist file and disconnect your iPad.
Step 7: Reboot your iPad now and Voice Control is finally active! In order to use ‘Voice Control’ feature simply hold the “Home” button on your iPad until “Voice Control” is visible on the screen of your iPad.
Activation of Voice Control on iPad has been completed successfully!
