Enable HTC HD2 Windows phone to use WiFi 802.11n

by Antony Paul on December 5, 2009

HTC HD2 Windows Phone can be tweaked to use WiFi 802.11n networks instead of just the 802.11b or 802.11g support advertised. To switch higher-speed wireless, the tweak requires a registry hack but battery consumption of your windows mobile will increase significantly. This may be the possible reason HTC chose to disable WiFi n in their shipping firmware. If you need speed despite the higher battery consumption, then follow the simple steps below:

How to enable HTC HD2 Windows phone to use WiFi 802.11n

  • Using a registry editor navigate to hklm/comm/bcmsddhcd1/parms on the HTC HD2
  • Change the value of 11nModeDisable from 1 to 0

Note: Registry modification is not advisable as it might brick your phone, so attempt it at your own risk.
