How to Jailbreak iOS 5 BETA 2 to its Full Potential using Redsn0w

by Jeffry on June 24, 2011

After releasing iOS beta 2 build 9A5248d, hackers started spreading thin only to test if the latest firmware can be jailbroken or not. And the good news is – ‘Yes’! Apple has not fixed the hole yet and you can easily jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad on iOS5 beta2 using Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 on both Windows and Mac, as confirmed by Musclenerd.

It is utmost important for you to know that redsn0w 0.9.8b1 will NOT Hacktivate iOS 5 beta 2 and you MUST be an iOS developer with a registered UDID to get through all the new activation screens. In case your device is already carrier unlocked using Ultrasn0w , just stay away, else you will lose your unlock.

The tool uses Geohot’s bootrom exploit for a tethered jailbreak which requires you to rerun the jailbreak every time you completely power it off or restart your device. Right now Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 supports iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom, new bootrom), iPhone 4 (GSM), 1st-gen iPad, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G. It does not support iPad 2 right now (JailbreakMe could come from comex).
