The UK customers who are using this smartphone are not facing any such issues with the GPS system of the handset. But the customers which are using the smartphones provided by Telstra are facing issues with the GPS lock system. Users are failing to lock onto GPS satellites, and sometimes the signals are getting dropped out very frequently. Jesus! This is insane indeed!

The issue was reported to both the companies, Telstra and HTC released a joint statement stating that -

After investigating customer reports we have found that the software for this feature is set up incorrectly. The device’s GPS hardware is not affected and will operate once a minor software update is made.

HTC and Telstra are working closely to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency and aim to rectify this issue in the shortest possible timeframe. Currently, we are working to develop, test and introduce a software update and will continue to update customers on our progress on a regular basis
until this has been resolved.

We are committed to ensuring excellent quality and user experience for all our customers, and we regret any inconvenience caused to our customers.

It is been confirmed by Telstra that issue will be resolved by the coming weekend. The fix can be either a downloadable ROM patch from the website or it will be updated automatically. HTC Desire fans can rest assured their as per the commitments, the GPS fix for HTC Desire will be arriving soon.

Unfortunately the Rom update from Telstra Kills access to all your paid apps on the android market – as Google has not given the ROM their stamp of approval which leads to app blocking… good one Telstra.. way to go to break an amazing phone…

Suggest everyone requests a service credit till that is fixed…

    Anyone else having this issue?
