At present, HTC Droid Incredible supports 802.11 b/g WiFi. But soon HTC is going to add 802.11 n support for the Droid Incredible via software upgrade (according to a filing Friday with the FCC). Smelling like HTC is preparing itself for Android 2.2 push. May be! Because Android 2.2 Froyo officially carry 802.11n.
802.11g has a maximum speed of 54Mbps as compared to 320Mbps in 802.11n. In addition to it, 802.11n uses MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology which uses multiple transmitters and antenna’s to broadcast and receive. 802.11n thus ensures faster transmission.
As of now no ETA has been announced as to when HTC will be pushing update. But one thing is sure that after the 2.2 update, users will get bunch of powerful features. Android 2.2 is much faster than Android 2.1 and almost 2 to five times faster than 2.1. There are tons of other features that will be accompanied in android 2.2 update apart from flash 10.1, native internet tethering, and application manager.
