HTC EVO 4G for $199 from Walmart, Cans Mail-in-Rebate

by Brian on June 2, 2010

Walmart is now imitating with Best Buy and Radio Shack  retail house in offering the HTC EVO 4G for $199.99 with a two-year contract without any mail-in-rebates, starting with Friday’s launch. EVO 4G for $199 means that the price already takes the mail-in rebate into account so that you don’t need to lay out extra money which you will get back after a week or so.

If you buy HTC EVO 4G directly from a Sprint store, you are supposed to pay $299.99, with $100 rebate check to come in the mail after few weeks. Technically, there is no difference in price, but if customers are getting smartphone without paying extra, then what is the point of giving $100 more? Why don’t carriers adopt the same business model?

I have decided to buy EVO! What about you? Are you going to buy snapdragon powered HTC EVO 4G android beast? Well, before buying evo 4g would you like to revisit its technical specifications, review videos and comparison with other phones like iPhone 4G?

Technical specification wise, HTC EVO 4G features adobe flash supported Android OS 2.1, 480 x 800 4.3-inch TFT LCD display with QSD8650 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 1GB of storage, and 512MB of RAM, 8.0 MP auto-focus camera, HD video capture, HDMI output, Mobile Hotspot capability and more.

Whenever I have to do the mail in rebate w/ sprint it usually takes about 3 or 4 months to get a rebate check. The last time I got a new phone was almost 2 years ago so maybe they've sped up the process.
