by Jeffry on May 30, 2010

HTC EVO 4G android phone riding on Sprint network has been ported with Android 2.2 Froyo ROM successfully. The port came soon after the Google distributed the powerful EVO 4g to all of the attendees of Google I/O conference. Toastcfh over at XDA-dev were managed to install android 2.2 Froyo ROM on EVO 4G and has posted a video. Earlier EVO 4G was also rooted successfully.

Currently, there are no words about which functionalities are missing and which ones are working superfine. But, it seems that the hacked Android 2.2 ROM for EVO 4G is much faster than Android 2.1 and almost 2 to five times faster than 2.1 as promised during the Google I/O keynote.

There are many other useful features that come with android 2.2 update  apart from flash 10.1, native internet tethering, and application manager. The video clearly shows the native tethering functionality. Visit here for feature list of android 2.2 Froyo. As of now no steps for rooting EVO 4G or porting android 2.2 OS has been published. Stay tuned for more updates.
