America’s first 4G smartphone HTC EVO 4G will be made available from 4th June across all retail channels and will be retailing for $199 with 2 year service contract after a $100 mail-in-rebate (excluding tax). Pay an extra $10 over the standard data plan to access 4G speeds, and another $30 for the 4G tethering option as well. Well, before buying EVO 4G, let’s compare it with other powerful phone available. The guys at Pocketnow luckily got hands-on with HTC EVO 4G has posted a video comparing the EVO 4G with the HD2 in terms of hardware, and with the Nexus One in terms of software. Video after the jump!

The video shows the difference in network speeds (between 3G and 4G). The download speeds for the EVO 4G was found to be around 2mbps on average while HTC HD2 on T-Mobile 3G was getting faster speeds. But why? EVO 4G is on 4G network and must be faster, isn’t? May be because New York city doesn’t support 4G network at this moment and during testing the EVO 4G was using Sprint’s 4G hotspot which was created outside the event’s premises in a truck. This might be the reason why EVO 4G lacked actual speed. Apart from network speed camera, size and other functions have been compared at its best.
We have earlier posted a chart comparing the iPhone 4G / HD, Droid Incredible, HTC EVO 4G and Nexus One specifications. The comparison is carried out on Network, operating system, screen sizes, processors, memory, storage, data speed, MicroSD, rear camera, video recording, front camera, second mic and more.
