iPhone 4.x with 5MP Camera and 8MP For 2011 Model in Horizon

Apple does not provide advance cameras in iPhone offerings. iPhone 3GS which is the most advanced model features only 3.2 megapixel camera as compared to other smartphones like Blackberry, Android-powered HTC phones and recently launched Kin phones which features 5-megapixel camera.

Apple lately realized that most of the mobile users weigh “good camera” option before buying any smartphone and now revamping iPhone’s camera presumably 4G version of the iPhone in 2011.It is being reported that Apple may soon end its contract with OmniVision, Apple’s current camera supplier to the iPhone.

According to Rodman and Renshaw brokerage analyst Ashok Kumar, Apple has started reaching out to parts suppliers for the 2011 iPhone model and has picked Sony’s 8-megapixel camera chip for the 2011 iPhone, displacing OmniVision completely. But OmniVision will continue to supply a 5-megapixel camera for the next generation of iPhone speculated to be released on June 22.

In order to compete with powerful Android phones like HTC EVO 4G, Apple is now shifting its gears to overhaul 2011 iPhone model completely. Apple has just started with Camera and lots of other stuff is yet to come.

We all know that the timing of the next generation iPhone launch is almost coinciding (no specific date announced) with Verizon’s national debut of its 4G wireless network. It is being strongly speculated that next iPhone may land up on 4G Verizon as well. Stay tuned for more updates!
