After the iPhone OS 4.0 release, developers are ripping apart every bit of the iPhone OS 4.0 SDK or iPhone OS 4.0 beta firmware. Recently, traces of iChat was spotted in the firmware fuelling the speculations that next generation iPhone 4G/HD will support iChat. It is also being rumored that a front-facing second camera would be coming with iPhone 4G which is slated to be launched this summer.

Guys at 9to5mac have found solid references to moderators, chat rooms, encrypted video conferences and other features while exploring the iPhone OS 4.0 SDK which could be even be used by developers in the future to add video chat into their gaming applications. More analysis revealed that Apple appears to be testing Apple iPhone video conferencing services on four servers: three on Apple’s own intranet, and one which is open to the world.
The above string in the screenshot indicates that video conferencing on an iPhone will include: One-on-One video chats and video conference calling. It might be possible, that Apple intentionally left out traces of iChat and Video Chat iPhone OS 4.0 SDK. But why would Apple like to do that?
It is also being rumored that the iPad and the iPod touch both will receive video camera updates in the Fall when the 4.x OS goes public.
