Yes you read it right! Soft unlock for Baseband 05.14.02 / 02.10.04 is one step closer to Release. Though you can easily jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 with Limera1n but Baseband 2.10.4 is still locked (means that you cannot carrier unlock your iPhone 4 on baseband 2.10.4). Same is the case with iPhone 3GS / 3G which are on Baseband 05.14.02 on iOS 4.1. iPhone baseband hacker, Sherif Hashim who previously unlocked Baseband 05.12.01 on iOS 3.1.3 has achieved a major breakthrough.

Veeence added to the confirmation that ultrasn0w unlock for iOS 4.1 basebands (05.14.02 / 02.10.04) will not be available until iOS 4.2 is released which is due in November.
A new exploitable baseband crash has been found. An unlock will very likely be released after iOS 4.2 and will unlock both BB’s of 4.1 & 4.2
However, you can still carrier unlock your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1. If you have the iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 then you are out of luck as you are already on baseband 02.10.04.
