Apple TV 2G has been jailbroken via SHAtter exploit and pre-jailbroken IPSW from PwnageTool. While this is indeed excellent news it most likely means we may have to wait few more days to Jailbreak Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1 while the Dev team mash out the exploit completely. Musclenerd confirmed the news via tweet and posted an image as a proof.
[Update 1]: Musclenerd has posted an update on his Blog which says:
It’s confirmed…SHAtter can trick Apple’s new AppleTV 2G into restoring to a pre-jailbroken IPSW from PwnageTool too! Literally the only UI application on the ATV is Lowtide.app, but now the window is open for jailbroken apps of all varieties. (Just like the early iPhone days, the only apps you’ll see on the AppleTV will be jailbroken ones). In the meantime, here’s a video showing root access (via ssh) into Apple’s new product.

iPhone hacker Musclenerd has already confirmedearlier that SHAtter exploit will be used to jailbreak iOS 4.1 Apple TV 2G. No ETA has been cited so far!
