Jailbreaking iPhone 4 on iOS 4 is just a step away! Few minutes back MuscleNerd confirmed that comex’s userland jailbreak (Spirit) has been ported over to iOS 4 on iPhone 4 successfully. It seems like Apple did not paid enough heed to fix a hole used in Spirit jailbreak tool. Comex (developer of the Spirit Jailbreak tool) and planetbeing has managed to get root access on the iPhone 4 using code of @comex’s userland jailbreak method. What you see in the picture immediately below is the first screenshot taken from iPhone 4 running Cydia.

Few minutes later, Musclenerd of iPhone Dev Team posted screenshot (seen above) a while ago of Cydia running on high resolution screen of iPhone 4.

UPDATE 1:Read the comment by p0sixninja bellow regarding the release of this jailbreak.
like I told rene earlier, the method used to jailbreak the device relies on some of apples own software so it can’t really be released legally. The only thing this really means for the average user is that now we (the devs) have a stepping stone to be able to pursue and test other jailbreaks which can be released.
also and it has nothing to do with spirit whatsoever
UPDATE 2: Another screenshot by Musclenerd has been posted which shows full root shell on iPhone 4.
