Droid 2 First Images Decoded and Leaked!

by Antony on July 19, 2010

An eagle-eyed reader Dominic was lucky enough to discover an entire Droid 2 image streak inside a Shockwave Flash file which was embedded on the Droid Does site. It is being reported that these may be the first official images of the Motorola A955 Droid 2. Check out the images after the break.

Earlier we have seen Droid 2 listed as ‘coming soon’ in Verizon device catalog with some confirmed specifications – 512MB RAM/8 GB ROM, 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, 3G Mobile Hotspot functionality and an 8GB microSD card preinstalled with upto 16GB expandable memory. But there was no sign, whether Droid 2 will be galloping on android 2.1 or froyo?

Just to recall, few days back, a trustworthy resource tipped that Motorola Droid 2 would be shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo instead android 2.1 and will launch on August 23. This makes sense, since by that time Droid X and Droid 1 both will get the update. What about price? Well, it seems that Motorola Droid 2 might debut around $199 with 2yr contract. What do you say?

I like it except for the size of the SD card. Why would they not at least keep it like the original? To me, the SD card is a big deal along with the camera. It seems like it is basically an equal phone. Some features are better and some are not. I already have my 16gb card full of music and waiting on 2.2. to finally come out so I can put even more music on my 32gb card I bought.
