A new Motorola android device with model number A955 has just received Wi-Fi certification and is widely speculated to be the successor to the Motorola Droid and will be coined as Motorola DROID 2. Why Motorola DROID only? Well, if you dig out the Motorola Droid is sporting the model number A855, probably of same series. Not convinced?
There are rumors floating, that Motorola A955 might be launched as Motorola Shadow. But already Shadow is carrying tag MB180. Later, tweet from Androidevicespy (Monitoring android device signatures) confirmed that model number A955 is tagged with Motorola DROID 2 and will be heading to Verizon wireless.
Though there are no more images or concrete information available as of now! We will keep our fingers crossed on this. But whichever phone will be launched, it will be much more powerful than Motorola Droid or EVO 4G or Droid Incredible.
It is being reported that the said android phone will run TI OMAP 3630 processor (possibly clocked at 720MHz) sporting a 4.3 inch touchscreen with 854 x 480 pixels resolution, an 8MP camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording (most likely 720p) plus an HDMI out in the Motorola Shadow’s future. Other probable features includes 512MB RAM, Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR (or maybe android 2.2 Froyo).
