OpenAppMkt: Alternative to iPhone App & Cydia Store, without Jailbreak

OpenAppMkt is an HTML app store that launched today by Bay Area developer-entrepreneurs Teck Chia, Flora Sun, and Tim Wuu. OpenAppMkt is a 3rd party open iPhone AppStore for HTML5 apps that doesn’t require you to jailbreak whereas you need to jailbreak your iPhone in order to install apps from Cydia store. OpenAppMkt


Though iPhone jailbreak has been stamped as Legal by US government, it will void your warranty. On the other hand Apple does not have any control on OpenAppMkt. Users can install third party applications of their choice on their iPhone easily.

How to use OpenAppMkt on iPhone
iPhone users can “install” OpenAppMkt by adding the website to their home screen, and individual apps are installed in the same way, creating icons on the home page as if they were native apps.

Being in preliminary stage, there are only limited apps available and might take time to get popular among iPhone community. If OpenAppMkt catches on with iPhone users, we may soon see Android and  iPad version of OpenAppMkt.
