Overclock Motorola Milestone CPU Speed upto 1.2 GHz

by Jeffry on May 19, 2010

As you all know Google has limited the performance of all processors on Motorola Milestone. So the processors on the devices are not fully exploited, but with overclocking it is very much possible, but only on rooted milestone. You can easily increase the processor speed of Milestone (overclock) by upto 1.2 GHz which is twice the speed of 600 MHz processor at factory settings.

You might be contemplating, why do you need to overclock your phone? Well, for instance, there are certain games which require high CPU. In such cases you might want to overclock your milestone to 1.0 GHz before browsing or launching games and then return to a lower frequency like 600 MHz.

tiagosousa has developed a simple program “milestone-overclock” that allows you to increase the processor speed of your rooted Motorola Milestone running on android 2.1 by upto 1.2 GHz. It also provides an option of enabling and disabling of overclock in runtime without rebooting the device.

After overclocking Motorola Milestone your phone will be faster and more efficient. We stress however that the operation is dangerous and might brick your phone too.

I’ve done all the steps to get it setup. I’ve run it all day between 1ghz and 1.2ghz. I can say that 1ghz seems normal, but 1.2 tested way high on the benchmarks and shows an unbelievable increase in performance. Very cool.

For anyone in doubt, this is not a droid hack mistakenly named milestone, it really is for milestone (previously unoverclockable) phones.
