HTC Desire and HTC Legend running Android 2.1 have been rooted successfully. Rooting Android phone provides full access to its system files allowing you to modify the phone’s firmware and install third party apps, themes and custom ROMs. Once HTC Desire and HTC Legend are rooted, you can even tether your android phone to your computer to gain internet access.

Paul at Modaco forums has confirmed to have got full su (root) access on the HTC Desire and HTC Legend devices. The exploit provides a /system/bin/su from AOSP (that is, you can only use it from adb shell).
Once the process of rooting HTC Desire and HTC Legend is out, we will share the steps for rooting the said devices.
