Tawkon App Measures iPhone 4 “Death Grip” Radiation Levels

by Jeffry on August 10, 2010

“Death Grip” increases levels of radiation emitted by smartphones in addition to attenuated signals. This is what Tawkon app is claiming, which allows you to measure radiation levels emitted by smartphones. According to Tawkon “death grip” might be hurting you from the radiations spewing from your iPhone 4 in addition to signal reception issues which leads to call drops. The video shows that in addition to iPhone 4, Nexus One and BlackBerry 9700 users are also affected by Death Grip.

According to the company’s blog:

“the way you hold the phone – and specifically blocking the receiver – increases the transmission power of the phone to maintain good cellular connectivity, and thereby increases radiation levels you’re exposed to.”

As you can see in a video, the Death Grip antennagate problem, which is not exclusive to the iPhone 4, not only affects reception and call drops but radiation levels too. Surprisingly, the video demonstrates that the iPhone 4 actually emits significantly less radiation than its main competitors Nexus One and BlackBerry 9700. Good for Steve! Isn’t?

Currently, Tawkon app is available for Android devices and BlackBerry OS but has been blocked for Apple iOS. Being an iPhone 4 friendly app, Tawkon was rejected from the Apple App store in March and the developers are trying hard to get it into App Store ever since. If not, Tawkon might land up in Cydia Store.
