Verizon iPhone 4 CDMA Release Date Q4 2010

by Jeffry on June 17, 2010

This in indeed HUGE for Verizon users in US! Christmas might arrive slightly early for Verizon US customers in 2011! Finally, Apple’s next generation iPhone 4 will be made available to Verizon. There are bells ringing around the web that Verizon in USA might be bestowed with iPhone 4 no later than the first half of 2011. It is being reported by DigiTimes that Pegatron Technology has received CDMA iPhone orders from Apple and they will be shipping CDMA iPhone 4 in the fourth quarter. If the rumors turns out to be legit then this would be the first time in US that iPhone will be made available across multiple carriers apart from AT&T.

Pegatron will also start shipping a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 to Apple in the fourth quarter and is currently using its plants in Shanghai, China to produce the products, the sources noted.

The news contradicts with the statement given by John Johnson, a Verizon Wireless spokesperson who confirmed that there is no plan for Verizon to support the Apple mobile devices like iPhone 4 and iPad in the U.S. in a video interview with Beet.TV that took place at the Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital conference.

Verizon has over 93 million customers in US and making the iPhone 4 available through Verizon CDMA network could open up a significant new market for Apple helping Apple to nearly double the number of iPhone users in the U.S. There are rumors, that Apple’s next generation iPhone 4 will be made available to Sprint  in addition to AT&T and Verizon carrier!

Statistically, Verizon is the largest U.S. wireless carrier, with 93 million subscribers and on the other hand T-Mobile has just 34 million. If Apple signs a deal with the Verizon then the iPhone 4 sales would increase exponentially (nearly doubled) and if iPhone 4 lands-up with T-Mobile, the iPhone 4 sales would increase by a little more than a third.

Apple now wants to imitate Google strategy of rolling out its major smartphone across all major carriers and we think that Steve Jobs would announce the next iPhone 4 across major US carriers (Verizon/Sprint/AT&T/T-Mobile).

Well, rolling out iPhone 4 across major US carriers might play a pivotal role in increasing iPhone 4 sales exponentially. What do you think? Any thoughts?

AT&T knows they are in trouble and in a very smart strategic move, is allowing users with 6 months or less on their 2 year contract to re-up early and upgrade to the iPhone 4. Good move by AT&T as they know they would lose a significant amount of customers if customers had a choice between AT&T and Verizon.

Apple has become the new microsoft and is evident with this move. CDMA is a retro techological system, and Apple's move is not in according with advancement, but with profit

Don't see this as being worthwhile, since the only country where CDMA is still popular is the USA. Heck, all three of Canada's main carriers use HSPA. Apple would be better off tweaking the iPhone to use the 1700 MHz band so it can work on T-Mobile and Wind. Not to mention, Verizon will be adopting LTE soon enough._____________________________________________iPhone 4: Everything you need to know about the iPhone 4
