Verizon Motorola Droid 2 Leaked, Gets Limited Hands-On

The official launch event for Verizon’s next offering, the Motorola Droid 2 is already scheduled for June 23 and just few days before the release, the DROID successor DROID 2 was spotted in a tech show at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA). Zack, a NASA intern perusing a tech show was lucky enough to hold the giant smartphone and was unsure if it can be launched as “DROID 2″, as told by Verizon representative.

 

Zack was holding his own Motorola Droid in his left hand and on his right hand was its successor “DROID 2″ in dark chrome-like color and found that it was much smoother than the original Droid with less sharp edges. The headphone jack, volume buttons, power/sleep button, and the Micro-USB port were all in the same place. The camera button is slightly smaller in size and has the same color as the volume buttons.

5.0 megapixels on Motorola DROID 2 was much faster and allows you to take a picture very quickly compared to the original. The soft keys were touch-sensitive at the bottom and were in a different order than on the original phone. On the keyboard front it is wider and has blue coloring instead of the gold from the original and like the computer keyboard the four directional keys are present.

It is also being reported that DROID 2 would be launched with Android 2.2 Froyo running 750MHz processor and if it does come out with Android 2.1, it will get updated very quickly.

Additionally, Droid 2 will be sporting 8GB of internal memory with an 8GB micro-SD card including a 3.7-inch screen Display, 720P Screen, Wi-Fi tethering and a newer version of MotoBlur.
