After Microsoft unveiled its much awaited Windows Mobile 7 Series and free tools for Windows Phone 7 at MIX10, most of the important features went missing. In order to compete with Android powered phone and iPhone, Microsoft must update its operating system to include some of the functionalities.

Missing features of Windows Mobile 7 Series
- Multitasking not possible, except for the app was previously allowed an exception.
- No replacement for standard pre-installed applications, such as Opera is indeed allowed, but cannot be selected as the default browser.
- Windows Mobile Device Center will no longer be used.
- Copy Paste function on Windows Mobile 7 is absent, which means no clipboard operations. Microsoft says, most of the users do not use the function.
- Support application installation through service based delivery and the Market Place is the only way to install apps, except for developers, beta releases and corporate.
- Does not allow you to install Application via storage card.
- OEM Interfaces (Sense UI / SPB Mobile Shell / Point UI / Infinity and more) will not be allowed to run on the device.
- No removable media, Windows Mobile 7 Series appliances must have at least 8GB internal memory.
- Does not support peer-to-peer gaming.
- No file system access, users can only access your own directory, the File Manager to browse the device are not possible at all.
- Absence of native code and alternative user interface is another major disadvantage.
According to me multitasking and application installation via SD card are the most important features that Microsoft should add. What about you? Please share other drawbacks of Windows Mobile 7.
